24th Carnival

For the 24th we took the kids to the carnival in town. It was a super hot day and that helped when it came time to leave because the kids were excited to get something cold to drink! We all went on the carousel, Alexis liked it this time and didn't hold on for dear life. Drew on the other hand looked like he was terrified for the entire ride. John tried to get him to let go of the pole, but it was pointless. No need to fear, we didn't leave Madison home alone, she is attached to John and you can only see her purple hat, just barely.
John and Alexis rode the kid roller coaster together, he looked so funny in there but it was adorable to see him with her. If you look at the second picture you can see Alexis straining to hold on to the lap bar, they are the second car back, it makes me giggle every time I look at it.
For the last ride of the day, John rode the twirly ride. He's the one right above the name sign facing the camera. He was a little dizzy when he got off, but he said it was well worth it!!

Drew's scooter adventure

Drew loved to play on Alexis' scooter and she did not enjoy sharing, go figure, but I refused to buy him one until absolutely necessary. Well, he figured out how to make it go, so, he has his very own scooter now!! We figured we might as well make a day of playing in the water while we were enjoying Drew's new found freedom. Drew didn't appreciate the sprinklers as much as Alexis did, so John held him while they jumped on the trampoline. I would have joined but Madison decided to wake up and need attention while this was going on, who could blame her, it's no fun being left out all the time. (Not the best family picture, but you can see everyone's face, or least half of it, so that counts!)

Drew & Madison

This is my favorite picture of Drew & Madison together. He loves to hold her and pet her and poke her and all sorts of fun loving things that don't necessarily feel too good. He thinks it's so cool that she moves and makes noises!! He seems so much bigger now that he's not the baby anymore. He is getting better with his speech as well, he didn't regress as much as I was afraid that he might. He seems to have done just fine and he is telling us more often when he needs to go pee, which is great, he is also getting more vocal about watching his movies, Baby Einsteins, and not Alexis' Disney movies. He loves Alexis so much and he wants to do everything that she does, including painting his nails. While Grandma Hakes was watching them the other night, she let Alexis paint Drew's nails, he loved it so much and keeps asking to have them painted again. John isn't as keen on painting Drew's nails as he is about painting Alexis'. Drew's such a good little boy and he's so fun.

Alexis & Madison

Alexis and Madison have the cutest matching dresses that they wore to church today. I normally wouldn't take my three week old out but John didn't feel good and wanted to have some quiet time today. So, I took both girls to church. You can tell that Alexis just loves Madison, sometimes a little too much.

Getting our nails done

One little treat that I get for carrying a little one for nine months is that I get my nails done before I give birth. This time I did my toes and my nails, they looked so good!! Alexis, being the little princess she is wanted her nails done too. The people there were so sweet and they gave her a full manicure for free. She loved getting them done, even though they occasionally hurt her when they did some of the filing. She wants to get her nails done all the time now, luckily she accepts daddy doing them. Unfortunately for daddy she wants them done daily!! What a princess she is, we know we're in big trouble when she gets older!

Preschool

This is a picture of Alexis and her friend Russell walking to preschool. She looks like such a big kid with her backpack on, where does the time go? It seems like I just had her.
We enrolled Alexis in a summer preschool, partly for her to get some good kid interaction with people her age and partly so I could have a nice break for an hour and a half twice a week!! She's loved it and is learning so much. Unfortunately, it ends this week, but preschool will start soon and she can't wait!!

Tribute to Bo

Obituary

I was sad to hear the news of Bo Driggs passing away. He and I were good friends for a long time. We played basketball on the same team for a while. Bo had a pleasant personality and could always cheer you up and make you not take yourself so seriously. It' s sad that the drugs won the battle in his life. Life can be short, we must live every day like it's our last.
