Jocelyn stats and Kindergarten testing

I LOVE this picture.
I love her chipmunk cheeks. She's so tiny and has these huge cheeks.
My mom thinks she looks like an Egyptian.

I forgot to post her two weeks stats - mostly because I lost the sheet that had all the information. Oops, what can I say? Life is super busy.

She weighed 7.5 lbs which is 19%. She's 20 in. long which is 28% and she has a head circumference of 13.6 in which is 12%. She is still super tiny, but she's looking so big to me it's going far too fast.

Alexis had her Kindergarten testing today and she did really well.
She is going to be in the advanced reading group as she is already reading!
She also really likes her teacher which is a great start.
She is excited for Thursday (first day) and Mommy and Daddy can't wait either!
It's amazing to think that Alexis was the size of Jocelyn just a few years ago, it seems like it has gone by far too quickly.

I start school on Monday and Grandma is leaving us in a couple of weeks to go home to South Dakota. I don't know what I'm going to do without her help!

Bath bubbles

Bath time with TONS of bubbles. The kids love turning the jets on to get the bubbles as big as possible.

On Sunday I woke up with mastitis. I've had it before, but not like this. I had a temperature close to 102, the chills, hot flashes, my head hurt and my eyes felt so tired. Luckily we have Dr. Eric. He called in a prescription and about 36 hours later I started feeling better. Today is the first day that I haven't had some of the symptoms and I'm so excited to be getting over it. The things that we go through for our kids is amazing!

Jocelyn is starting to stay awake for longer periods of time. She wakes up when I get up and then she doesn't go to sleep until after lunch. Then she gets up a couple of hours later and is up until dinner time, followed by another nap - a few minutes to a couple of hours - and she's up for the evening. This is more like what my kids usually do.

Today Drew did something to Madison that she didn't like and I heard Madison say: "Naughty, time out." Followed by Drew saying: "I don't want a time out so NO." It was so funny to me to hear them saying the things that Mommy would tell them and then hearing what they really wish they could tell me.

Rodeo 2010

John and Grandma took Alexis and Drew to the Logan Rodeo this year. Alexis has been reminding us for the last month that we didn't let her see the bull riding last year. They of course save the bull riding until the very end of the rodeo, which is really late for little kids. They didn't get home until 11:30 and both kids were still awake! They've been riding brooms and mops around the house and yard since the rodeo.

Friday night was the ward campout. John and Drew ended up going by themselves. They had a great time together and even tried fishing the next morning. Needless to say they didn't catch anything.

Our nights, once the kids go to bed, are usually uneventful. Notice the word usually?
One of the few nights that John isn't home with me and I ended up having to find a babysitter at midnight.
My Aunt Melanie and family came into town and Grandma took Alexis and Madison swimming at the hotel pool Friday night. After the girls went to bed Grandma tried a Harry Potter like trick - walking through a wall instead of through the open door. I discovered that laughing when injured must be genetic because she started laughing so hard she had tears streaming down her face. Her foot was swollen and bruised and she couldn't move her toes. I had been deprived of sleep the night before and I was so looking forward to crawling into my bed. Instead at midnight I called Chalie (Menie's daughter) to come and watch Alexis and Madison while I ran Grandma to the emergency room.
Had they not been in town, I would've had to take ALL the girls with me. What great timing huh?
She did not break her foot, but she had some nice soft tissue damage. They gave her a walking boot and some crutches and sent us home to our sweet beds at about 2:45. Jocelyn decided to wake up when we got home and not go back to bed until 4. The girls were up at 8 and wanted me to start functioning. Luckily I have a great husband who let me go back to sleep when he got home. Oh happy day! Grandma used the crutches for two days and the walking boot for four. It's still sore, but it's getting better.

Even though this is a blurry picture I loved her facial expression.

Madison sweet Madison. This is mascara smeared around her face.
She did this while she was supposed to be eating her lunch and while I was feeding Jocelyn her lunch. Today was an off day for lunch, usually John comes home for lunch and Grandma is here too. Today I didn't have John or Grandma here which I didn't think would be a problem. Maybe I should quit thinking so much.
Some of the great things about Madison: she now uses words for everything. She's a talking queen and her days of screaming because she's frustrated are well behind her. She can count to five - not always in the right order and you have to get her to count one, two instead of two, one to get the next three numbers. Maybe this has something to do with me counting down from five as a warning when she's going to get in trouble for something. Obviously she listens for two, one before she listens. She knows all of the colors in a basic box of crayons and loves to point out colors. She's getting so big!

No pants

Can you see the sore underneath her nose? She fell face first on the tennis court. John said it was like the movies where they slide with their face on the ground and their body in the air. A few days later we put her to bed and two hours later she woke up and didn't go back to sleep for FIVE hours. While she was up and playing she was picking the scab and tore it off. She was not a happy camper. It was three a.m. when she finally went to bed. Jocelyn woke up at 3:05 for her feeding. She had Pepsi milk the next day - I was exhausted.

Grandma Tobi thinks she looks like an Egyptian!
I just LOVE her little cheeks, they are huge for her skinny little body.

Daddy and Grandma Tobi have been great at taking the kids to go and do things while I get a break every so often. They went swimming for a couple hours one day and then they went hiking for an hour a few days later. The kids love going and doing things with them and I appreciate the calm that comes when they go to the activities.

Honestly she was out of my sight for 60 seconds - no more. I was in the kitchen addressing an envelope to Max and when I finished she was gone. The next thing I heard was: "Mom, Jocelyn!" I went running and I found Madison had climbed into bed with Jocelyn. When I pulled out the camera she started saying "cheese", does this mean that I am reinforcing bad behavior? Oh well, I couldn't pass up the picture and the baby wasn't hurt.

Madison decided to diaper her baby with Jocelyn's diaper. Good thing it was a doll and not the real baby.

Drew has had a rough week. Sunday he came running into the house screaming. He had stepped on a bee and the stinger was stuck in his foot. On a positive note, we found out that he's not allergic to bees! Sunday night he started coughing and Monday he was fevering and had a drippy nose. He decided to go and play outside with Madison on the trampoline even though he was feeling a little nasty. When they were done Madison got down and then Drew started to climb down. (There is a little chair that they step on so that they can get up and down.) Madison took the chair and pulled it away from him. Then she proceeded to pull his shorts and underwear off. You might think she was trying to help him but when they were off she took off in the other direction to go play. Drew was SO mad that all he could do was half yell half grunt about it. I still laugh just thinking about it - does that make me a mean mom? I'm sure he'll laugh later on.

Alexis was playing with her barbies today and she came in with Ken driving the car and barbie being pulled behind it by her neck. According to Alexis they were hiking and she fell down a cliff. Ken saved her and was taking her to a Dr. About five minutes later Alexis came back and told me that the Dr. said that barbie would be fine. She then proceeded to tell me that the Dr. told them that they were lucky because they couldn't have babies. I told her I would be sad if I couldn't have babies. She told me that they were glad because babies are A LOT of work and they didn't want to deal with it. I busted up laughing - where do kids get these ideas?

Madison and Daddy

She's a cutie but behind those cheeks, eyes and smile she is a mischievous little person.

Friday our day went something like this:
Mom was leaving with Alexis to run some errands for me and I left Madison alone for MAYBE five minutes while I gathered everything Mom needed. When I walked back into the room Madison had completely emptied my wallet of everything inside, thrown all the baby diapers everywhere and pulled every last bit of floss out and draped it around the couch.
She went outside for a little while so I had a reprieve from watching her like a hawk.
Grandma and Grandpa Wadley came over and brought her back inside with them. They had brought some Otter Pops with them and Madison LOVES Otter Pops. Three Otter Pops later I told her she had to wait until Alexis came home to have more.
When Alexis came home Madison went right for the Otter Pops and Orange Dreamsicles. The next thing we know, Madison was holding a frozen corndog that she had partially eaten and she had handed out frozen Toaster Strudles to all the kids. We figured that since she had already half eaten both there was no point in taking them away. About three minutes later she had a frozen taquito in her hand. When I walked  into the kitchen there were two entire Orange Dreamsicles melted on the floor and the freezer and fridge were left open. While cleaning up this mess, Madison found the cashews that Grandma and Grandpa Wadley had brought and took those into the front room and dumped some out.
Needless to say, Johns arrival home made my day!
John wasn't as excited.
Madison was in the kitchen with John when he decided to come into the front room. He thought about bringing her with him but didn't see anything that she could destroy so he left her. Two minutes later we heard a huge crash. Madison had pulled down the container of ALL the nail polish onto the tile floor. The nail polish is four shelves up so she had to pull a chair over and probably climb up one shelf to get to them. Luckily only one bottle broke and the other 15 survived and Madison was uninjured. Madison was not happy that we were upset and that we wouldn't paint her nails after she'd worked so hard to get them all down.
The other day I went to do something for Alexis and she told me that she wanted to do it herself because: "That's how I learn." I'm sure if Madison could use that saying that's what she'd be telling me all day every day.

Thursday the 22nd when we were sitting outside playing with cousins at Grandma and Grandpa Wadley's, my mom told me that she thought Alexis was pinching Jacob. I turned to look because no one was crying and lets be honest, I thought maybe she meant Madison because that is something Madison would do, but not Alexis. When I turned to tell her she was crazy she insisted that I look again, so I did. As I turned back around to face mom, slightly annoyed that she was being a nut, there was a face coming in to kiss me. I was so shocked I almost hit them - and it wasn't going to be a nice little hit either. Luckily, I realized that it was John before he got whacked. John had told me that he had Monday off and so I wasn't expecting him until Friday. He had the wrong day though and so he thought he would surprise me and not tell me that he was coming down right then. It was very sweet, especially since he brought a huge back of See's candies with him. It completely shocked me . . . I don't know that I'll be able to get him back for that one anytime soon.
