Harvest Time #2

 Huge cucumbers that should've been picked when they were small. Who knew there were eating cucumbers and canning cucumbers?

 Getting creative in the attempt to get to the silverware.

 These were part of the wasp next that was pulled out of the ground. Even two days later the larva were still alive and squirming. Disgusting and intriguing all at the same time!

 I may or may not have been pinching my mothers butt while John was trying to take a picture.

 Ever wondered what John would look like if he were a busty woman? Not a bad sized watermelon if you ask me. The downside is that it wasn't anywhere near ripe.

Food Anyone?

 The anatomy of taking some of someone else's goods. Alexis sees Madison thoroughly enjoying her baked potato - yes, it's under there. 

 She meanders over and eyes the goods trying to gauge the reaction of the owner.

 When the owner is unable to defend their goods she swoops in and takes a pinch.

 Had the camera not caught it, you wouldn't believe that someone had actually eaten anything off this plate.

 Madison made her very own potato for dinner. She thought it was delicious. 

Jordan enjoys his sour cream more than most. Oh the joys of a one year old.

Harvest Time

 I can't tell you how many of these buckets we brought in. We planted 29 tomato plants, only six were tiny tomatoes. Needless to say we have a lot canned for this winter!

 We had a wasp problem. They were all over the wood shop. Then the kids showed me a spot where they were coming out of the ground. John thought it would be easy enough if he dug it out and I sprayed in the right direction with two cans of wasp spray. Needless to say I quit far before he was ready, it just didn't seem so smart to me. I called in the professionals and they took care of the problem which was about six times bigger than John thought it was!

 Drew got to go camping with the scouts and John, he was such a happy little man.

Drew wanted to plant huge sunflowers - and they grew! We got a number of sunflower seeds that we were able to roast and the kids and John get to munch on.

First Day of School 2013

 Third Grade - with glasses (which she doesn't wear anymore, but cried for a year that she had to have them to do well.)

 Madison didn't start for another week but we needed all three together! Madison is also wearing the same outfit that Alexis wore on her first day of Kindergarten.

We're excited that all three are in school, unfortunately Kindergarten is only a half day. BLAH.

End of Summer Fun

 Yogurt. All over the kitchen, his face and hands, my couches and the floor. We sure love him though!

 An empty box is fun for third graders too!

 Jordan loves to push Jocelyn. Once she gets going down the hill she gets too fast for him. She also gets a little heavy going up!

Top of Utah Half Marathon runs past our house! We love to watch them run - or Mom does.

Daddy Comes Home!

 Riding in Grandpa's Razr is always lots of fun.

 It sucks when you're tall and you have to sit in your sit on the airplane forever.

 Madison and Drew set a trap for everyone at Grandpa's house. They found his loose change and his paper plates and it was fun from there. These went all the way up his stairs - 15 of them!

 Vegetables from the garden - not too bad for our first big garden.

 Getting the actual cast on. She loved the cast. She ended up having to have two casts and she was very upset when they took the second one off and didn't put another on. She knew how badly her arm hurt when it wasn't in the cast. She didn't realize that after the cast her arm would be all better. Two days after getting the cast off she was a much happier lady.

Just in case you thought Jordan wasn't a mess maker.

John's First Trip to China

 Alexis took the seat off the tree swing and  would hold the ropes and then run and jump off the hill. Mom and Dad told her she shouldn't do it but she did anyway. She ended up with a fabulous rope burn around her neck. Lesson learned.

 Millville Mountain caught on fire - lightning at four a.m. caused it. It took over a week to get it out.

 Alexis brought me the medicine bucket and then dropped it on my foot - which bruised nicely.

 The firefighters took over Millville South Park with their tents and such.

 Jocelyn, Drew, Alexis, Madison and Ashley all wanted to go up or down the stairs at the same time. Because they couldn't decide who should go first they started pushing and Jocelyn ended up flying down the stairs. Poor girl broke her arm. 

I took her to the Dr because I thought it was out of socket and possibly broken because of how she was holding her arm. He - prior to the x-rays - thought that it would show it was broken. They did x-rays and said it wasn't broken or dislocated. Her elbow was also retaining fluid. He assured me it couldn't be out of socket as falling down the stairs will not cause that. She cried and moaned the rest of the day that her arm hurt. The Dr called and said that the radiologist said that there was blood in her elbow and that it was probably broken, but we weren't seeing it on the x-ray. The idiot Dr we went to called to tell me what the radiologist said and then said we could wait a week and just see what happened or I could take her to the orthopedist if I wanted to be cautious. The next morning as she was rolling around in my bed her elbow popped back into socket! When we finally made it to the Dr later that day he said the x-rays showed that it was out of socket, the bones in the images didn't move even though her arm had! He re-did the x-rays and found the fracture, small but there. Six weeks in a cast for this little lady. She had some nasty misquito bites though so we did a soft cast until the bites healed up and she could be in the permanent cast.

The big helicopter that was dumping water on the fire. It came pretty close to jumping the canyon which means that it would've been right next to houses! 

So, John's first trip out of country didn't go so well for those of us at home. Thankfully his side of the trip was uneventful!
